A World Cup Football Stadium Party

Imagine what it would be like to actually be a part of the World Cup experience. You can give your guests that World Cup experience by transforming your home into a mini World Cup stadium. Once they step through those doors to your World Cup stadium, your guests will feel as if they are right there watching their favorite match. Send out football themed invitations two weeks in advance. Inside the invitation, include a ticket that you either make or purchase and have them bring the ticket to the World Cup party. Invite your guests to wear jerseys or colors of the team they support.

When decorating your home, start off with a green rug that will resemble a football field. Add in four corner flags. Draw several lines. First outline the entire field as a rectangle. The lines that appear along the field’s length are called touchlines. The touchlines are longer than the goal lines. Now draw a line that cuts across the field from the centers of each touchline. This is called your midline. At the center of your midline, draw a circle. This will be the center mark. Now draw in corner arcs. These are quarter circles that extend a few feet onto your mini playing field.

Now it is time to add in goals. Put a goal on the center of each goal line. If you do not have a net, you can make one. Draw a goal area from the inner side of each goal post. Draw a penalty area a few feet from the inner side of each goal post. Create banners for your guests to hold up during the match, just as if they are in the stadium. Have two sides with seats facing the television. Guests should sit on the side they support. Decorate the walls with flags of different countries.

Have popcorn, hotdogs, nachos, and whatever else would generally be found at a football game. Make up a concession stand area for your guests to “order” their favorite football game snacks. Enjoy the match.

World Cup Safari Party

While most people can only dream of visiting the World Cup, you can help make their dreams a reality by transforming your home into a World Cup Safari. Your guests will feel as if they have traveled to South Africa to see the big match.

Create your landscape. Start off with a tan background to resemble sand. Print off beautiful scenic background pictures along with pictures of the animals you might see on a Safari, such as: elephants, cheetahs, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, etc. Scatter green colored helium balloons around the room to give your World Cup Safari party a jungle effect. Weigh down the balloons with a rock wrapped in green tissue paper. Plastic or real plants can also be placed around the room for that jungle look.

Cut out leaves out of green construction paper or foam craft sheets and tape them to green streamers. Hang the streamers on walls and ceiling to create a canopy of leaves. Remember to add in football related decorations. A football cake and cookies are a great way to do this. Add in some football paper items, such as: plates, cups, and napkins. You can serve exotic fruits and other South African cuisine. Just be sure to include some traditional snacks, such as chips and dip for those who are not “into” the cuisine.
