World Cup Party Football Freddy Wall Decoration
This is a fun wall decoration that can also double as a photo prop. Provide memories of your World Cup party with a picture of your guests with Football Freddy. You will need to make two of these, so you can have one for each team. All you need for this decoration is two white poster boards for each Football Freddy and one poster board of the color of each team. Create a football out of the white poster board for the head. Use markers to create a face on the football head. This face can be as goofy as you want. With what is left out of the white poster board, make a body that has the arms, legs, neck, etc. With the colored poster board, create a jersey. Don’t forget to put a number of your favorite player. Make up socks, shin guards, and shoes with the same color. Top your football head with some hair and your Football Freddy is ready for his photo session!
World Cup Party Football Table Decorations
Create a field on your table. On a green tablecloth, draw out the lines of the field. See the article, “World Cup Party Themes” for specifics on how to draw the lines. Add in miniature goals and you have a great table display. Place your soccer ball cake on this table, along with any other football decorated snacks.
World Cup Party Football Piñata
Everyone loves piñatas, the young and old alike. There are a variety of football piñatas you can purchase or you can make one yourself. Here is how to make a football piñata:
Materials:
- Large balloon
- Newspaper
- Flour
- Water
- Bowl
- White poster paint
- Paint brush
- Wire coat hanger
- Wire cutters
- Pliers
- Margarine tub lid or something similar
- Scissors
- Wrapped candies and party favors
- Black and white tissue paper
- Craft glue
Instructions:
- Cover your work area with newspaper.
- Inflate the balloon to desired size of piñata.
- Mix flour and water to make a paste (enough to fill a small bowl).
- Tear newspapers into one inch strips that are 12 inches long. Dip the strips into the paste and remove any excess by running the strip between the thumb and index finger. Place each strip on the balloon until it is covered completely. Allow to dry.
- After first layer has dried, repeat the above step to form a second layer. You may add one more layer to equal three layers; however, too many layers can result in it being too hard to break.
- Cut open a flap on the back of the football piñata. Fill with candy and World Cup party favors.
- Take the coat hanger wire and make a loop. Poke each end through the top of the piñata and through the margarine lid. With pliers, bend the ends of the wire so they do not pull out. Close the flap with masking tape.
- Paint your piñata white. Add your tissue strips by cutting strips about 2 to 2 ½ inches wide. Cut slits along the long edge of each strip. Water down the craft glue and paint the strips of glue around the piñata. Start at the bottom and work your way up.
