Kids need to be constantly entertained at a party. When kids are not entertained, they can get into trouble! What better way to entertain them then to get them involved in kid’s winter party games? Be sure to check out more winter party ideas.
Here is a list of fun and simple winter party games for kids:
Ice Fishing
They can go ice fishing without the dangers of falling through ice and freezing!
Supplies: Blue sheet or cardboard painted blue, dowel sticks, and string clothes pins.
Setup: Hang the sheet or cardboard from the ceiling. Make a fishing pole by tying one end of the string to the dowel and tying the other end of the string around the clothes pin. Optional: Use a glue gun to glue them in place so they don’t slide off.
To play: Have a parent stand behind the sheet or cardboard with a basket full of gifts/goodies to attach to the clothes pins. The kids will cast their fishing lines over the ice and will be able to know they caught something once they feel a tug on their line. Of course, the parent attaches the gift to the clothes pin and tugs!
Kids love this game and they get a prize too!
Frosty the Snowman Game
Kids have a blast making one of their own into Frosty the Snowman!
Supplies: Rolls of toilet paper for each team, sheet of orange, black, red and yellow construction paper for each team, hat for each team, and a pair of scissors for each team.
Setup: Make up teams of four to five children and give each team the supplies above. Teams should choose one person to be “made into Frosty.”
To play: When you say “go” the children should wrap up the person to be Frosty in toilet paper. Make sure you tell them to leave an opening for the nose and eyes. Once Frosty has been created, they can decorate him. Have different prizes, such as: First Frosty done, most unique Frosty, ugliest Frosty, cutest Frosty, craziest Frosty, etc.
Winter Pictionary
This is fun for all ages! Kids love to play guessing games. Turn an old favorite into a winter party game for kids! This game will keep them busy for some time.
Supplies: Black board and chalk or a dry erase board and markers, slips of paper with different winter items on each one, such as mittens, coat, candy cane, snowman, snow, snowflake, etc., stocking or winter themed bowl to draw from, and a timer.
Setup: Divide up into two teams.
To play: The player draws a slip of paper and reads it. Make sure kids know to keep the item to themselves. Have them hand the slip of paper to an adult. Player is to draw clues as to what was on the paper. If the player’s team guesses correctly before timer is up, then they get two points. If they do not guess, the other team has one guess. If they guess correctly, that team gets one point, while one point is deducted from the playing team.
Hint: If smaller children are playing, do not divide up into teams. Use pictures instead of words. Just play for fun and have them make guesses until they get it.
These are just a few of the many games that can be played at a kid’s winter party. Just remember to make them simple and fun and the kids at your winter party will have a blast!
