Creating your Own Invitations

It’s easy to find airplane-themed invitations in the store, but it’s also easy to make them at home with the birthday boy or girl. They’re also more fun for the guests to receive.

Airplane Shaped Invites

Stencil an airplane that will fit into a standard envelope onto a piece of construction paper. Then, using the stencil, cut out as many papers as you’ll need invitations, and they will be the base. Then, use airplane lingo to write up the invitations details. You can print them from your computer to make it easier than writing individual ones. Then, print enough copies on regular printing paper, cut them into smaller plane shapes to fit on the construction paper ones, glue them on, and send them off!

Boarding Pass Invites

Let the guests know that they’re invited to a fun-filled excursion by designing invitations that look like plane tickets. You can easily create a boarding pass on your computer, adding in all the details of the party to fit the various fields. The guests will be so excited to get on board!

Party Games

Paper airplane-making contests are tons of fun. Have a station with lots of colored paper, markers, and other decorations, where kids can sit and design their very own paper airplanes. Then, hold a contest to see who can throw theirs the farthest. The kids will love to watch everyone’s colorful planes flying around!

Airplane Food Made Fun

Of course standard birthday party fair like pizza, chicken fingers, French fries, and other snacks are perfect for an airplane themed party. But they’re way more fun when they have airplane themes to them, like pilot pizza, in-flight fingers, and flying-high fries. Label the foods using airplane shaped paper, or hold down the labels with toy airplanes to add to the theme. Kids will love gobbling up your high-flying snacks.

The Cake

Of course, as with any child’s birthday party, the birthday cake is the centerpiece to the airplane themed party. Whether you’ve got some of the Cake Boss’s talents in you or you’re using a bakery, make sure the cake is ready for takeoff. There are so many great ways to decorate a cake for the airplane themed party. You can shape the cake into an airplane which requires a bit more skill. Or, you can draw an airplane design onto the cake in different colored frosting. The easiest way, if you’re making the cake yourself, is to bake a regular birthday cake and stick in little plastic airplanes or airplane-shaped candles. Your child will love when it’s time to make a wish over his or her beautiful airplane cake!
