Mexican Theme Party Everyone Will Love

If you love Mexico, and most people do, a great way to celebrate your appreciation of our beautiful neighbor to the south is to use it as the theme for your next party. Mexican theme parties are fun, colorful, lively, and easy to host. Follow these tips to make sure your Mexican theme party is one that everyone will love. Ole!
Creating Festive Invitations
Every great party needs to start off with a great invitation. Since most people know a little Spanish, add some Mexican flair to your invitation by calling the party a Fiesta, and referring to your guests as senoras, senoritas, senors, or amigos. Make sure your invitation has bright colors on it, as Mexico is a bright country, and add some pictures of Mexican hats, people, or foods to spice it up. Whether you send paper invitations or e-mail them, with the perfect invitation, you’re guests are sure to reply “Si, si, si!.”

Setting the Stage for Your Mexican Theme Party
Decorations and props are the best part of a Mexican theme party. Most party supply stores carry tons of various Mexican items, so you can choose the best pieces that you love. Lots of streamers will help to create an authentic Mexican feel. Place some maracas on the tables so people can shake them and get into the Mexico theme.
And everyone will love a piñata. You can fill it with anything from candy, party favors, small bottles of tequila, or small toys. Once everyone has arrived and is settled into your Mexican theme, get out the blindfold and line up your guests. Adults and kids alike will love to take a swing at the piñata and share the goodies inside.
You should also have a small supply of sombreros on hand for those guests who like to wear big hats. They can also be used as centerpieces or even bowls, as they hold so much and they’re very festive!
Menu
The next best thing about your Mexican theme party is that you get to have lots of great food.
You can stick to the staples or cater the event from your favorite Mexican restaurant. You may want to stick to the most common Mexican cuisine like:
- Tacos (create a taco bar where people can top their own)
- Burritos (try different or unusual fillings like seafood)
- Quesadillas (serve a variety not just the chicken and cheese staple)
Mexican food is fun and easy to make, and it works well for parties and large groups. You should have plenty of chips and salsa on hand, which everyone loves. Quesadillas, with cheese or chicken, are delicious finger foods. You can offer burritos or empanadas as well, with a side of Mexican rice and refried beans. Add a taco bar, with shells, meat, cheese, tomato, lettuce, salsa, and guacamole, and your guests will be saying “muchas gracias” all night!
As for the drinks, margaritas are as Mexican as sombreros, so be sure to stock up on margarita mix, tequila, and salt. Having them in margarita glasses is a nice extra touch. You can make virgin margaritas for the kids, too!
With these tips and your own added Mexican flair, your Mexican theme party will certainly be one that everyone loves. Fiesta!
