Turkey Cutouts

Start off with an easy craft project. If your children can hold a pair of scissors and use glue, they can make turkey cutouts. Get some brown construction paper, scissors, glue and markers. Then, use a turkey pattern. Have the kids trace the pattern and then cut it out. After the turkey is cut out, encourage your kids to decorate it. You might not end u with a masterpiece but you will have fun and creative decorations. Not only that, but you will enjoy looking back on them in ten years when your child would not be caught dead making crafts with mom.

Gorgeous Centerpieces

You can also make centerpieces with your children. Go to the store and pick up pumpkins, gourds, greenery and fresh flowers. Then, arrange the items on a platter. Allow the children to make some on their own. Let them inject their style into the centerpieces. See fall centerpiece ideas

They can also go out and collect leaves to use in the centerpieces. This is a fun way for them to go outside and play while still being a part of the project.

Wreath

Start with a grapevine wreath and a glue gun. Then, you will need to decide what you want on your wreath. Pinecones are a great addition to a Thanksgiving wreath. Have your kids go outside and gather pinecones that can be used. You can also pick up some artificial flower and plastic pumpkins. Some people like to include small stuffed animals on their wreath as well. After you decide all of the items you want on your wreath, start gluing. Have the kids help as you affix the items to the wreath. Be sure to spread out the bigger items properly so the wreath looks professionally made.

Outside

You do not want to forget about the outside area when decorating for Thanksgiving. Outdoor decorations can be incredibly simple and still be effective. If you want to decorate the outdoors, purchase some pumpkins and a bale of hay. Then, set the hay and pumpkins up around your yard. This is an easy and affordable way to decorate with the kids. Your yard will have the look of fall and you will not have a headache from trying to get everything together.

When you enlist your kids in decorating for Thanksgiving, you are able to bring the family together. Holidays should be about family time, and by having all the family members participate you are able to focus on family and fun.

Remember, this does not have to be a structured event. Encourage the kids to use their imaginations and help you come up with decoration ideas. Then, help them with their ideas so they can be a part of the process. In the end, you will have gorgeous decorations that everyone was involved in creating.
