Super Bowl XLIV(44) Decorations

This year’s Super Bowl will be the 44th Super Bowl.  Use the number 44 or the Roman Numeral XLIV, which stands for 2010, as the main theme for your decorations.  There are many different decorations you can purchase with this theme, or you can get creative and make some decorations of your own with these numbers.

Half and Half Team Colors

Colors are another way to create a Super Bowl party place.  Decorate your home with one side of the room your team’s colors and the other half of the room with the opposing team’s colors. Then coordinate your games and activities with these colors.  This helps your guests to feel comfortable rooting for the team they choose.  Use streamers, lights, party supplies, etc. to add color to each side.

Piñatas

Piñatas are a fun way to decorate and to release some extra energy and frustrations during the game.  Your guests will either have extra energy from the excitement that their team is winning, or they will fall into the category of frustration because their team is not winning!  Either way, hitting a piñata is a fun way to release this excitement or frustration.

There are many kinds of piñatas to choose from.  You can even make your own.  Choose a football one or one that will match your Super Bowl theme.

More Super Bowl Decorating Ideas

  • Paint white ten yard lines on a plastic green tablecloth.  Add the constructing goal posts at either end of the table to look like a real football field.  Sprinkle football confetti over the top of the table.
  • Make football shaped light up ice cubes for the drinks.
  • Put snacks in football shaped bowls or in bowls in the shape of a helmet.
  • Make or purchase banners, posters, and pennants for the walls.  Making pennants can be easy and a fun project for kids to complete.  Simply cut triangles of both teams’ colors out of paper or felt.
  • Make paper chains to put around the house.  Kids can get in on this project.  Just cut strips of paper that are the colors of the teams and glue the strips into circles and connect the circles to make a chain.
  • Make little jerseys as wall decorations.  Simply cut shirt shapes out of felt or paper.  Glue numbers onto the jerseys and attach them to string.  Hang them around the room.  Use clothes pins to attach the jerseys to the string.

These are great decoration ideas if you don’t have a specific theme in mind.  They can be used at any Super Bowl party and will enhance your guests’ Super Bowl experience.  Add in some games, and your Super Bowl party will be the party everyone will look forward to in the years to come.
