Irish Style - Who am I?
Make a list of key figures that are popular to Irish culture. Be sure they are recognizable, such as Bono or Colin Farrell. Write these names on note cards. Tape them to your guest’s foreheads. Be sure the person who has the note card does not see who he/she is. That person can ask questions to try and figure out what name is on the card. This is a fun game that can last throughout the night.
Irish Jig Contest
Create a mixed CD that has Irish songs, such as, “Danny Boy” or “Whiskey in the Jar.” Pair up in couples. Find three judges (someone who does not want to dance) to decide on the winners based on their unique dance moves. If everyone wants to show off their dance moves, the couple standing the longest wins.
Irish Trivia
Search the Internet for Irish facts and cultural history. Make up questions. Whoever answers the most questions correctly wins. To make the game more interesting, make sure you tell everyone in your invitations that they will be playing this game and they should study up on Irish culture and history before they get to the party. Have a really cool prize for this game to get your guests motivated in checking out the history and culture.
Irish Movie Phrase Shot Game
Put in a movie that features Irish characters and Irish history. Choose a few characteristically Irish phrases and Irish words before the movie starts. Also, choose other things, such as when a person mentions a specific place in Ireland or a specific historical tradition, etc. Whenever these phrases or words are mentioned, take a shot. Also, whenever one of the Irish characters in the movie takes a drink, take a shot and punch each other. This is an Irish “thing to do.”
Pot of Gold Treasure Hunt
Create a list of 8 to 15 riddles and clues. Make some easier and some more challenging. This will keep the game interesting, yet the easier ones will help move the game along. At different points in the hunt, have a game or trivia question to try and answer. This just makes the hunt more interesting. Whoever finds the pot of gold first wins the pot of gold. Make the pot of gold worth finding!
Quarters (Irish Style)
Put an empty shot glass on a hard surface. Bounce the quarters off the table and into the glass. If you make it, choose a person to take a shot by punching him/her. This is tradition in Ireland. If you don’t make it, you must take a drink.
Irish Beer Pong
This can be played with two or four players. Have a tournament so that all the guests have a chance. Set up three cups on each side of the table. Bounce ping pong balls off the table trying to get them into the opponent’s cups. If they hit one, the opponent’s must drink an entire cup. If they hit two, the opponent must drink two, etc. To make the game more challenging, set up five cups.
These St. Patrick’s Day games for adults will spice up your party and your guests are sure to have a great time.
