Entertaining Oscar Party Games

Kick off your Oscar party with these entertaining Oscar party games.  While the Academy Awards telecast will be the highlight of the night, you can make your party all that more entertaining with some Oscar party games that your guests can play before, during, and after the show. Oscar Party Game #1 – Initial Game - Guess who I am

Choose names of people famous in Hollywood.  Put them on a piece of paper and into a bag for the guests to choose as they arrive.  Guests will not tell anyone what name they have.  They will take on this persona.  Guests will take turns asking a question, and the person with the persona will answer with two words that start with the initials of the persona he/she has drawn.   Guests will try to guess who that person’s persona is by the initials being used to answer the questions.

Oscar Party Game #2 – Oscar Karaoke

This is a game that can be done during commercials or before or after the awards show.  With a karaoke machine, guests can sing their favorite movie song.  For Oscar karaoke, the only songs that can be sung are those associated with a movie, which includes movie soundtracks.

Oscar Party Game #3 – Famous Actors from the Past

Cut out 20 pictures of famous actors from the past.  Put a number of 1-20 on each picture.  Create a list of about 30 names that are famous actors.   Be sure to include the true names of the 20 pictures.  Your guests should guess which name goes with which picture.  The person who has the most amount correct wins the game.

Oscar Party Game #4 – Oscar Party Drinking Game

Spice up the party with this Oscar party drinking game.  Make up your own rules on when to drink.  Assign a number of drinks to be taken at certain times during the show.  Here are just a few ideas:

• Take two drinks when a TV host asks a celebrity “Who made your dress?”
• Take a drink when someone walks down the red carpet in a specific color dress.
• Take a drink whenever a winner cries during their speech.
• Take a drink when a speech is cut off by the orchestra.
• Take a drink whenever a specific word is spoken during the show.

Oscar Party Game #5 – Oscar Party Pool

Include a ballot in your Oscar party invitations.  Printable ballots can be found at www.oscar.com.   Have a set amount that everyone should bring to contribute to the pool.   The winner gets the pool.  Have second and third place winners with prizes, such as movie tickets, film books, or gift certificates.

Tally up the winners as the show moves forward.  Make an announcement of the winners after each award.  The telecast could run late.  If you are not planning to gather after the telecast, then tally up the winners and send the awards announcements out with pictures taken during the evening.
