A New Year’s brunch is the perfect way to celebrate after a night of late partying. To create your perfect brunch create a menu with variety of food to make sure you will have something everyone will enjoy.
Egg Casserole
Eggs are always good start to any breakfast and brunch menus. Frying and scrambling eggs is out of the question so creating a breakfast casserole is the perfect solution.
What you will need:
- Eggs (approximately three eggs per person)
- 1 pound shredded cheese (Your favorite will be perfect)
- Breakfast sausage
- Onions
- Bell peppers
Mix the eggs in a large mixing bowl. Precook the breakfast sausage and crumble. Sauté the onions and bell peppers in the pot you cooked the sausage. Add the cooked sausage, onions, bell peppers and shredded cheese to the eggs. Place in a casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or until the egg is completely cooked.
Baked French Toast
French toast is a staple in the south and simple to make for your party. Baked French toast is the perfect alternative because you can put the ingredients together the night before and simple place it in the oven before the brunch.
What you will need:
2 loaves of French bread (day old bread works the best)
1 dozen eggs
3 cups of milk
2 cups of half and half
1 tbsp vanilla
½ tsp of cinnamon
1 and ½ cups Maple syrup
Cut the French bread diagonally and place in casserole dishes. Mix the eggs, milk, half and half, vanilla and cinnamon in a bowl. Pour over bread slices and refrigerate overnight. The morning of your party take out the French bread and top with maple syrup and bake in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.
Fresh Fruit
It is a good idea to have a few trays of fresh fruit available for your guests. Melons, strawberries apples and grapes can be displayed on platters for your guests to enjoy. This will also add some color to your table.
Bread and Pastries
A good addition to your party can be something you do not even have to cook. Go to your local bakery and get a variety of breads and pastries and arrange them in baskets on your table.
Champagne Cocktail and More
Mimosas are the staple of a brunch. Have plenty of Champaign and orange juice on hand for your guests. For a twist have several juices on hand to mix with the Champaign. A sparkling juice cocktail is the perfect addition to any brunch.
Bloody Mary’s have a soothing effect after a night of partying. With vodka and your favorite Bloody Mary mix (try Zing Zang for the perfect blend of spices). Make a pitcher and have it on your drink table with garnishments on the side.
For your guests, who prefer to steer away from alcohol, you can make an alternative drink. This is the same idea as the champagne cocktail, only substitute ginger ale for the alcohol. These punch cocktails are just as good as the other version. And they are kid-friendly, as well.
