Tarot card drinking games are some of the oldest in the country. In fact, they were included in prohibited card games in Virginia, during the 1600's. This was a time where not only was drinking limited, but also any association to witchcraft. Tarot cards have been used in Wiccan celebrations and witchcraft since the beginning of time which is perfect for the Halloween season. At your next party why not try one of these fun drinking games centered around a deck of tarot cards. See the top three Halloween drinking games.
Pyramid games
Take you deck of Tarot cards and try to build the biggest and best pyramid. Much like Jenga, have your guests work together to construct a pyramid using the cards. The player that knocks the construction down has to take a drink of the chosen alcohol. The process begins again until the next person knocks the pyramid down. This is a game that can go on for hours, as long as the players are willing to continue.
Card blowing
Many card drinking games include the use of betting. Instead of using money though, alcohol is the bet. Players place their bets on a certain number of drinks. If they lose, they must take the drinks, however many that involves. The card blowing game originated in some form in Germany. This game is played by placing the deck of cards in the center of the table. The players are seated, and take turns in a clockwise motion.
Each player blows on the top card on the deck, trying to move it off the deck. If they are unable to do so, they must take a drink. Because of the roots of this game, the drink of choice is usually beer. However, some use stronger alcohol, as their game drink.
The Witched Cauldron
Have your guests try to toss the Tarot cards into a witch’s cauldron. Each time they miss they have to take a drink. With each round move the cauldron further away from your guests. In most cases the more they have to drink the harder it is to make it and the funnier it becomes.
Questions and Answers
Place a deck of Tarot cards in the center of the table. Have each guest cut the cards and place them in three stacks and ask a question to the deck of cards. Have them pick a card from the top of one of the decks and read it aloud. If the tarot card truthfully answers the question they are spared. If the card does not answer their question they must drink and pick a card from one of the other stacks.
What Card am I
Have one of your guests pick a tarot card from the deck. Have them convey the image on the card and the meaning of the card to the rest of the guests. Everyone should try to guess the card. If they are unsuccessful they must drink and go on to the next person until the correct card is guessed.
Although drinking card games can go on for several rounds, they often do not but are always fun. The more alcohol consumed it is less likely the game will continue.
