Our dorm is opening it's doors to its new members this month. We decided to have a small party so that the newbies will not feel awkward and be more friendly. Since we're not really familiar with this type of party, we need some assistance on how to set this up without having any glitches or problems during the party.

I recommend preparing lots of name tags. Think of it as a reunion but they are not familiar with each other - so name tags is a must. To make things interesting, inform the newbies that they have to introduce themselves in front of the group. This will surely get everyone familiar with the new guys.

The name-tag is actually a great idea. I could also add some slide show that would complement each newbie. It doesn't have to provide every bit of information about the newbie - any interesting data without harming the individual would be enough.

A Getting-To-Know Party is a nice start to welcome newbies. And having a Name-Tags would be perfect to Get-To-Know one another.

I would like to suggest too, to have a short presentation,where anyone can show what she/he got!

It would also make the atmosphere,loosen and make them comfortable!
