I don't want to sound too imposing but I'm thinking of providing some suggestions for our costume party on St. Patrick's Day. With some input, I might be able to provide some ideas and encourage them to be on their best at the same time.

I think that's too imposing but what I could suggest is to give them some ideas on colors. A specific design is not for everyone so it's better let them be creative rather than impose something and kill the fun in the party.

I have to agree with Cindy - it's just too imposing. What you can do is to constantly remind them about the costume party. But you have to remember that literally telling them everyday about the party is just annoying. You just have to trust your visitors to come to the party dressed.

Yeah, my husband also said that I'm a bit controlling when I send out some recommendations. I'm just concerned that the party will not go as planned because someone come in a bad costume and will ruin everyone's mood. But then again, as long as everyone comes in with the best intentions, nothing will go wrong.
