My friend wants to have a house party but many of the guests have kids. Of course, they can hire a baby sitter for the night but the invitation came in late so kids might have to go with the parents. Anyone experienced a house party with "kids area"?

I actually had that experience last year. A parent was actually very clever since she was able to hire THREE baby sitters that would take care of eight 6-year old. They watched TV, had some board games and just had fun while we adults have our own party. It also helped they have a large study room for the kids.

That's a good idea. Make sure they have at least a 3 is to one ratio. Three kids to one baby sitter.

Having a party with kids is not really a big problem, you could just set an area where parents can put their kids without worrying that their kids might be in harm.
