My kid is insisting that we hold the birthday party outside. Not just in the front yard but in the park. This can be a bit disastrous since there would be a lot of kids attending and it's an open space. I know I've prepared for a bit of parties in the past but an open space with kids is not something that should be treated lightly.

My main concern is this: how to I protect the kids while making sure they are having fun?

Create a buddy system. Choose an adult in the party that will be monitoring one of the kids. It has to be a parent or at least someone familiar with the kid. Hope this helps!

I suggest that you avoid having too many activities in this open space party. Let the parents and kids have a bit of fun first before insisting on games and activities. This way, parents and companions of the kids will have more time bonding before getting exhausted on different activities you have prepared.

I agree with Mickey although there is a tendency that the party might not be controlled when you give them too much time alone. I think it would be a better idea that you have sporadic games. A good rest between games with music in between should be ideal for family themed outings.
