labor day

If you want to have a fun Labor Day, a picnic is in order. You can have as many or few people as you want at your picnic. Be sure to bring some entertainment, along with great food so you can make the most out of your Labor Day picnic.

Who is Coming?

You need to decide if you want the picnic to be an intimate family affair or if you want others to come. If you choose to have others come along, you do not need to bother with formal invitations. A simple call is enough.

After you have decided on the guest list, it is time to get ready.

Packing

Be sure you pack accordingly. You want to have a great time while outdoors, but you need to be mindful of the elements. That means you need to pack some sunscreen with you as well as bug spray. If you have young children, be sure to also bring along something they can entertain themselves with.

Food

You don’t have to go all out to have great time at a Labor Day picnic. You can throw together some sandwiches and have fun.

There are other foods that are great on a picnic. Bring some fruit with you, along with some potato salad and coleslaw. You are certain to love eating these items when you are outdoors.

Keep the menu simple. You will want to be active outdoors and enjoy the weather. You will appreciate having chosen a simple menu after you get out to the location you are picnicking at.

Throw in a bottle of wine and some cheese in your picnic basket. You will be able to have a drink outside and toast the great day.

Keep in mind, though, if you are picnicking in some public places, you will not be able to bring alcohol with you. thus, find out the rules ahead of time so you do not break any rules and ruin the Labor Day fun.

Games

You need to bring some entertainment along during your picnic. Bring a ball and glove to play some catch with the kids. A soccer ball is also a lot of fun. Also, pack a Frisbee. You can get out and show the kids how to play.

If the wind cooperates, bring a kite along as well. After you have your lunch outside, you and the kids can fly your kite.

A Labor Day picnic is a simple way to have a great time. You don’t need to go all out for the picnic. Instead, make sure you surround yourself with great people, simple food and entertainment. If you have those things, you will really enjoy yourself.

Tips for a Labor Day Picnic

  • If you live in the North, bring a jacket along. It can get chilly and you don’t want to have to go home because you are cold.
  • Find a picnic spot that has gorgeous views. Part of the fun of picnicking is looking out at the surrounding area.
  • If you do have others come, encourage them to bring their own food and activities. Picnics should be simple affairs and you should not have to coordinate for everyone.
