Fall is an exciting time of year. The temperature is dropping, the leaves are changing colors and beautiful fall produce is filling the store shelves. Excitement is in the air because of the party season is also approaching. This year, be the first on the block to throw a party ringing in the new season.
Be Creative in Your Invitations

Making your own invitations for your fall party is easy and cost effective and you will have a product your guests will know you spent time creating. Create fall themed cards to send to your family and friends. Get some card stock paper from your local craft store in fall colors, green, orange, yellow or brown will do. Cut them into the shapes of pumpkin, corn, or leaves and write your party details on them.
If your friends a close and you can hand deliver your invitations you may want to consider some of the spoils of the fall season. Buy mini pumpkins and corn and write your party invitations on them. You can write directly on the pumpkins or write the information on small cards and pin them to the pumpkins and corn husks. Deliver them by hand to your guests and invite them personally.
Setting the Stage for Your Fall Party
Why not take advantage of the cooler weather and have your party outside. You can create a scene from a small farm in the corner of your yard for your party. A few well placed hay bales for seating will give you the atmosphere you are looking for. Get some corn stalks and tie them together and place them throughout your space. You can tie them together with tired ribbon to splashes of color.
Instead of the old ice chest for your drinks, why not use a wheel barrel or stainless washtub. This will give you the perfect place to keep your drinks cold while keeping with your theme.
If you party is being held in the evening, place candles through the space for the perfect touch. Place several candles on platters surrounded by a variety of nuts. You can even place nut crackers in the platters and the guests can enjoy them during your party.
Food for the Season
Place nuts and pretzels through your party in small stainless steel buckets purchased at your local craft store. This will give your guests something to munch on while mingling. Make caramel and candy apples and place them on platters.
Because of the cool weather you may want to serve a warm fall punch. Take 1 cup apple juice, 1 half cup orange juice, ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon and a few cloves and simmer over a low heat for 30 minutes. You can also heat apple cider and serve it warm to your guests.
For something a little more elegant than cheese and crackers make brie, cracker and fresh fruit snacks. Take your favorite whole grain cracker. Place a slice of brie cheese on the cracker. Top with a slice of fresh fruit like figs or apples. Top with caramel sauce and serve.
No matter what you serve at your fall party it will be a success because a night spent with friends celebrating the season is a perfect night.
