Spring is around the corner, which means Easter is almost here, too. Start the spring off right by hosting the best Easter egg hunt in town. Kids absolutely love an Easter egg hunt. Turn it into an Easter egg hunt party, and your party will be the talk of the town.
Easter Egg Hunt Invitations
An Easter egg hunt is best outdoors. This way you are able to invite as many people as you want and not worry about whether everyone will fit. Invite the neighborhood kids, your child’s friends and classmates, the soccer team, or scout group. The more the merrier.
If you are able to hand deliver your invitations, make up an invitation on a small piece of pastel paper and put it into a plastic egg. On the outside of the egg, write “to” and “from” in permanent marker. For those you can’t hand deliver, just put into an envelope and mail. The kids can decorate the envelopes to give it a more personal touch.
Easter Egg Hunt Party Setup
- Buy Easter eggs that will open up.
- Fill eggs with candy, small toys, or both. Kids love money. Throw in nickels or dimes for an extra surprise. Set aside eggs for the smaller children. Put candy and toys that are more suitable for younger children so they do not choke.
- Hide the eggs throughout the yard. Make some very easy to find for the younger children, and some more difficult to make it a challenge for the older kids.
Rules for the Easter Egg Hunt
If possible, have an adult with the younger children. To make the hunt fair, divide the number of eggs by the number of children. Tell each child that once they find a particular number of eggs that they must stop looking or help a friend find some eggs.
Activities for After the Easter Egg Hunt
Here are some activities to include at your Easter egg hunt party:
- Guess How Many Jelly Beans – Fill a large glass with jelly beans and have the kids guess how many are in the jar. Have them write their name and guess on a small piece of paper. Have a prize for the closest guess.
- Egg on a Spoon Race – Dye up some Easter eggs ahead of time and have the kids run a relay race.
- Easter Bunny Tag – Choose an Easter bunny. The Easter Bunny is “it.” The other children are regular bunnies and they must all hop. When the Easter Bunny tags a bunny, that bunny turns into the Easter Bunny.
Easter Party Treats
There are plenty of treats to choose from on Easter. Easter Bunny cookies and cupcakes are always fun. Add in some pretzels and bunny shaped crackers. Make bunny shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a cookie cutter. Punch is always a great drink to serve. Be sure to have some water for kids who do not like punch.
Turning your Easter egg hunt into a party is simple. Just add in friends, food, and games and the Easter egg hunt party will be a complete success.
