Planning a Fondue Party

Fondue is a great way to enjoy a meal while taking your time to enjoy the company of your companions. So it’s natural that a fondue party would be a great way to spend time with your friends and guests – all while enjoying delicious fondue. Here are some things to prepare for and keep in mind when planning a fondue party. See other Dinner Party Ideas!
Setting the Table
Fondue works best when the whole group can sit around a table or two and talk while cooking or dipping their foods. It’s easy for everyone to be served at once and to try the same courses and foods at the same time.
If you don’t have a large enough table for all of your guests, though, another idea is to set up fondue stations where different foods can be served in different areas. That way, people can move around and try all of the different foods, while conversing with each other, then they can come back for more when they’re ready.
Have Plenty of Drinks on Hand
Before we get into the nitty-gritty melt-in-your-mouth details of the fondue supplies and foods, just be sure that you have plenty of beverages for your guests. Wine is a great addition to any fondue menu, but anything that quenches your guest’s thirst will work in conjunction with the delightful foods.
Crocks and sticks
Every good fondue party has multiple courses, so you’ll need multiple crocks in order to keep the party moving and the food coming. Plan ahead and buy or borrow enough crocks to serve your guests, and be sure that you have enough fondue sticks for everyone to have one for each course. Of course, you’ll need to be prepared with how many guests you have in order to have enough materials for everyone to use.
Types of Foods for the Best Fondue Party
Decide what types of food you’d like to serve for the various courses of your fondue party. Usually you will have at least an appetizer, a meat and/or veggie course, and dessert. Most likely, your appetizer will consist of melted cheese, with cubed French bread and other breads for your guests to dip. As a rule of thumb, plan for each guest to eat one half loaf of French bread and one cup of cheese.
For the meat portion, decide which meats or combination of meats you’d like to serve, and cut them ahead of time. Most people choose chicken or beef, but some also choose seafood. To ensure you have enough food on hand, plan for each guest to eat roughly one cup of meats. The same rule of thumb would go for any cooked vegetables, should you choose to serve them.
To top of your wonderful and delectable fondue menu, be sure to have extra dessert supplies, no matter how full your guests may say they are. Desserts always disappear when it comes to fondue. Your dessert menu should consist of plenty of melted chocolate, with cubes of pound cake, brownies, strawberries, bananas, and marshmallows for dipping.
