Displaying the Mexican flag at your party will definitely create a Cinco de Mayo atmosphere.  You can purchase a flag or make one yourself.  Mexico’s colors are green, white, and red.   There have been different meanings to the colors.  The World Encyclopedia states:

  • Green is a symbol of Hope
  • White is a symbol of Purity
  • Red is a symbol of Religion

You can find printable versions on the Internet of the Mexican flag, or you can make one yourself.   There are many ways to make the flag.  With whatever supplies you like, make a flag with a tricolor of green, white, and red.  The emblem of the flag should be placed in the middle white section.

You can either draw a picture of the emblem, or there are printable versions you can print, cut out and glue to your flag.  The emblem is an eagle eating a rattlesnake.  It is standing with its left claw on a nopal cactus.  The green oak is on the left side, while the laurel branches are on the right side.   Also included in the emblem is the national coat of arms.

These Cinco de Mayo party decorations are sure to transform your party room into a Mexican fiesta.
