If you want to have fast and affordable invitations, use email.   Email is replacing snail mail, and you can send off email invitations for free.

If you want to have visually appealing email invitations, go to one of the free e-card sites and create your own invitation for free.  Then, type in the addresses and send them off. You will save money, and the invitations will reach the recipients immediately.  This is a fast and affordable way to invite the guests.

Potluck

Instead of catering the shower, have everyone bring a dish.  Coordinate with them so you are sure to have all the bases covered.  Have someone bring an entrée, and others bring sides and deserts.  Also, have people bring a bottle of wine or other drinks the guest will want.

If you do not want to do a potluck, choose appetizers instead of a main course.  Then, you can provide a few finger foods for everyone. It will not be as expensive as giving people a full meal.

If you choose this option, make sure the shower is in the middle of the day or the evening. Do not have it at meal time.

Location

While some people rent a venue for a bridal shower, that is really unnecessary. Have the shower at your home. If you have a big backyard and a patio, set the party up out there.  Then, the guests will have plenty of room.  If you don’t have the backyard, do not despair, as you can have it indoors and have a great time as well.  You will be able to have a fun and intimate shower when you choose to have it at your home.

Games

Bridal shower games do not have to be purchased from a store.  You can have lots of fun with games you make up on your own.  This is the affordable way provide games.

Take some items and put them in a bag.  Pass the bag around and have people write down as many items as they recognize. The person who gets the most right wins.

The toilet paper wedding dress is another popular and affordable game.  Break people up in groups and give them some toilet paper so they can create a wedding dress. Vote on the best dress, along with the most creative and most humorous.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on a bridal shower.  You can have fun and keep things affordable.  Remember, as long as you have great people in attendance along with a wonderful atmosphere, everything else is secondary.  You will be able to have a fun party without spending lots of cash.  The bride will have memories she will always cherish and you will have money in your bank account
