Baby Shower Beach Theme – Invitations

Out of cardstock or foam sheets, cut the shape of a flip flop.  You can use ribbons or feathers to create a front strap.  Decorate the flip flop with sequins, stickers, etc.  On the front of the invitation, write “Beach Baby Shower.”  On the back of the flip flop invitation, write the details of the party.

Baby Shower Beach Theme – Decorations

A beach baby shower theme is pretty simple to create.  Simply fill up the room with beach items.  This can include:  sea shells, beach balls, flip flops, flippers, beach towels, snorkels, starfish, sunglasses, sunscreen, lounge chairs, and edible sand in jars.  Hang light and dark blue plastic table cloths on the walls to create a water atmosphere.  Hang paper starfish, flip flops, beach balls, etc. from the ceiling.

Put some of the treats for the shower in sand buckets.  For the table, create a sand castle out of clay for a centerpiece.  Have edible sand sprinkled on the table.  Lay out some shovels, buckets, sea shells, and tea lights on the table.

Baby Shower Beach Theme – Food

Choose foods you think of when you think of summer and the beach.  Beach time generally means grill time.  Make it simple by grilling up some hotdogs and hamburgers.  If you don’t want to take the time to grill out, try sub sandwiches.  They are easy to prepare and perfect for a “beach baby shower” even during the winter months.  Serve up with some potato salad and fresh fruit or something similar to make it a full meal.

Get creative!  Make octopus hotdogs by cutting the hotdog halfway up each side into four strips.  Boil it in water.  This will cause the hot dog strips to curl up and they will look like octopus legs.   For dessert, fill up clean goldfish bowl with blue Jell-o and gummy fish.

For a more elegant menu, try cold garlic shrimp, lobster rolls, grilled gourmet sausages, or sweet corn and tomato salad with fresh cilantro.   Anything works for a baby shower beach theme.

Baby Shower Beach Theme – Activities

Here are some fun games to play at your baby shower beach theme.  They are fun and will give the baby shower more of a beach theme atmosphere.

• Beach ball toss – Have everyone stand in a circle.  When the ball goes to a person, that person needs to say her name and how she knows the mommy to be.  Once everyone has had a turn, have everyone sign the ball and give a wish for the baby.  This is a great ice breaker for the baby shower, as well as a keepsake for the mommy to be.

• Beach dress up relay – Divide the guests into two teams.  Set out two piles of beach clothes and accessories.  Each person must put on the clothes and accessories as fast as they can and pose for a picture before they can tag the next person to go.  The team that finishes first wins.  Have them pose for their picture on a surfing board.  If you don’t have a surfing board, an ironing board will do the trick.  Send pictures with their thank you notes.

• Musical beach towels – This is exactly like musical chairs except you use towels.  Put on some beach music and start the game.  Place one less towel down than there are guests.  Have them walk around the towels.  When the music stops, they must stand on a towel.  The person who does not get a towel is out.
