Baby Sock Rosebud Bouquet

The baby sock rosebud bouquet can be a beautiful display for the baby shower, as well as provide a beautiful keepsake for the mom-to-be.  This is one of those homemade baby shower decorations that will take some time to create.  However, it is well worth the time you spend.  If you can get a few people to help you, then this beautiful bouquet could be complete in no time at all.  The mom-to-be will truly cherish this keepsake.

Materials

• Vase that does not have too wide of an opening


• Silk ferns


• Silk baby’s breath


• 6 to 8 pairs of baby socks = 12 to 16 roses


• Silk leaves with wire attachment


• Floral wire – thick


• Green floral tape


• Wire cutters


• Double sided tape

Instructions

1. Choose a thin sock with any solid color you like.  You could have two different colors or all the same color.


2. To make the rose, lay the sock on a flat surface.  The sock should be positioned so the toe is pointing towards you and the opening is pointing away from you.  Begin to roll the sock tightly from the toe of the sock.  Pay attention to the edge while you roll.  This will be forming the inside of the rosebud.  It may take you a couple of times to get the style you like.


3. Roll the sock to the opening on the opposite end.  Attach both ends together with the double sided tape.


4. Roll up the bottom of the sock towards the rosebud top.  This will form the outside ridges.  Leave the inside of the bottom section unrolled.  As the sock is rolled upward, two sections of the edging will be exposed.  Pull the baby sock over the exposed edges and attach the double sided tape.


5. Cut the wire at the length you want the rose to be.


6. Push the wire up through the bottom center of the rose as far as it will go.  You may need to turn the sock to help it go up further.  Take care so you don’t damage the sock.


7. Floral tape needs to be stretched in order for it to stick to the sock.  Measure out the tape about the width of your shoulders and add more if you need to.  Put the floral tape at the base of the V-crossover or at the prettiest part of your rose.  Above the tape will be the formation of your rosebud.


8. Wrap the first line twice and continue to wrap the tape towards the base of the rose.  Twist all the way down.


9. Add in your leaves.


10. Put your ferns and baby’s breath in the vase and arrange flowers.

Simple Homemade Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

• Bucket of Baby Items – Fill a decorative pail with cute baby items.  Add curling ribbon.


• Gift Boxes – Wrap an empty cardboard box in a pretty gift wrap.  Tie curling ribbon or add bows.  Add votive candles or flowers around the box.  You can also purchase bean bag teddy bears and place them around the box.


• Baby Blocks – Arrange wooden or plastic baby blocks at the center of the table.  Add in some bean bag teddy bears.


• Flowers – Arrange in glass vases.  Tie a wide satin ribbon around the center of the vase and glue in place with a glue gun.  This is perfect for an elegant baby shower.


• Rubber Duckies – Put some colored rocks in the bottom of a glass bowl.  Fill up the glass bowl with water and put in the center of the table.  Place a mommy duck with her baby ducks.
